01.program description
"the running dates sms program" sends:
- drop-launch alerts (when the september 2026 sample box drop opens)
- matching invitations (if you submitted a matching application)
- captain decisions (if you applied to be a captain)
- occasional drop reminders or community updates
this is a marketing program. it is not a transactional one. you will not receive shipping notifications via this program — those come from shopify after a purchase.
02.frequency
recurring messages, expected frequency: up to 8 messages per month. typical frequency is much lower — usually 1–2 per month, with bursts around drops or matching cycles.
03.cost
message and data rates may apply. we don't charge you for the messages, but your wireless carrier may. check your plan if you're unsure.
04.opt out — reply STOP
you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. you'll receive one confirmation message that you've been removed, and we won't text you again.
opt-out is permanent until you re-subscribe via the waitlist form on therunningdates.com.
05.help — reply HELP
reply HELP to any message and we'll respond with help info and the link to this page. or email therunningdates@gmail.com for any sms-related question.
06.consent is not a condition of purchase
you do not have to give us your phone number or consent to sms to buy our products or join the waitlist. the email-only path is fully functional. we ask for sms consent only because text alerts are the highest-leverage way to notify you when the september drop opens — and we want you to actually catch it.
07.supported carriers + platform
major us carriers are supported, including verizon, at&t, t-mobile, sprint, boost, cricket, mint, google fi, and most regional carriers. we don't currently support international numbers — if you're outside the us, sign up for email alerts only.
we send sms via klaviyo, our marketing platform partner. klaviyo's sending number for our brand will be displayed on each message you receive. if a message comes from a number not associated with the running dates, it is not from us.
delivery disclaimer. wireless carriers (and their network conditions) are responsible for the actual delivery of messages. neither the running dates nor klaviyo is liable for delayed, undelivered, or out-of-order messages — that's between you and your carrier.
07b.tcpa + ctia compliance
this sms program complies with the federal telephone consumer protection act (tcpa) and the cellular telecommunications industry association (ctia) messaging principles & best practices. specifically:
- we obtain written express consent via the consent checkbox on our waitlist form before sending any message
- we provide clear opt-in language that discloses program description, frequency, and cost (msg & data rates may apply)
- we honor STOP requests immediately and permanently
- we respond to HELP with information and support contact
- we do not send sms to anyone who has not opted in via the form
- we do not send sms content unrelated to the program described above

08.privacy
your phone number is held only by us and our sms provider, klaviyo. we do not share, sell, or rent it to anyone. for full data practices, see our privacy policy.
09.changes to these terms
we may update these terms — for instance, if we add new types of sms messages or change frequency. when we do, we'll change the "last updated" date and (for material changes) send a single notification text 30 days before the change takes effect.
